Telafonica are originally a group that formed in Sydney, Australia but today, are a group of musicians, visual artists, graphic designers and delay pedals. Starting as a duo, the group has evolved into a complex web of permanent and transient members and a handful of regular extra contributers spread across the globe. In all media, Telafonica focuses on a fusion of cutting edge technologies and hand made, traditional techniques and aesthetics. Telafonica is hard to keep track of. That said, the seemingly endless sprawl of creativity is ensuring that roots are burrowed deep into the ground beneath the feet of Sydney, and have thus become embedded in the very cultural fabric of the city.
Beginning with their 2001 release of ‘Dos’ covering one collection of beats, another of ambience and “dark d&b to their latest release, “393372000 Bits”, which faeatures three electronic leaning Telafonica tracks which stray into more abstract experimentalism.
