Nine years since their debut LP, The Jealous Sound has emerged with their sophomore full-length A Gentle Reminder, to be released January 31 via Music is Subjective and Fontana Distribution.

A Gentle Reminder is the long-awaited follow-up to The Jealous Sound’s debut LP Kill Them with Kindness, which was named one of Spin’s best albums of ’03 and described by Pitchfork as, “somewhere between the professionalism of Jimmy Eat World’s Bleed American and your favorite slice of homegrown emotion.” The newest LP promises not only to be a worthy successor of the highly-praised debut, but reveals the foursome at the top of its craft.

The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music poll, based on the votes of national Australian radio station Triple J listeners, in order to determine their favourite song of the year. Voting is conducted by the internet and begins roughly two weeks prior to the new year for the previous year’s songs. The 100 most popular songs are then counted down on Australia Day weekend – usually Australia Day itself, 26 January- Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know {Ft. Kimbra}

Not only is it a special day for our mates down under with Australia Day, an official public holiday in Australia and is marked by many official ceremonies as well as community festivals, concerts and citizenship ceremonies. Today also marks a very special day for Australian singer/songwriter and Australian icon Kylie Minogue who celebrates 25 years in the music business today.
To commemorate the occasion, she is launching a K25 timeline on her website and offering fans the chance to listen to a special acoustic version of “Finer Feelings”, originally released in 1992.
Kylie released her debut single The Loco-Motion in 1987. Part of her ‘25 years at the top’ celebration has been to record some of her earlier hits at London’s Abbey Road studios, Finer Feelings included.

Big Day out, one Australia’s hottest summer music festivals was launched last week in Auckland with its first shows a few days later up in the Gold Coast along the NE Australian shores. Check out Australian based KIMBRA performing her hit song “Settle Down”. If you haven’t heard of her yet, she is the featured female voice in the GOTYE song, “Someone That I Used To Know” off his album, Making Mirrors which will be released in North America on January 31st!
