The Middle East @ Tequila Mockingbird SXSW

2010 March 23

see the entire set at KCRW and interview here

If you been following us here at FGTW as of late you will know that one of our favorite new obsessions is this new band called The Middle East (TME) that we discovered last year and even more recently saw perform on their own Aussie soil (See previous post). The band has been described as a mix of the whimsical sounds of Bon Iver to the dark yet haunting sounds of Mono to create a very unique and  awe inspiring sound.  It’s really is difficult to compare them to any else out there and  that is a good thing especially in today’s indie world!  Up until this very moment, in speaking with their PR folks, TME, have not yet been captured live in all their glory. But thanks to KCRW’s coverage at SXSW last week, the world now has a glimpse of their talented offerings. Check out the first song on this set, and let’s just see if you don’t get hooked on their sound. We were literally speechless after watching them at Big Day Out in Melbourne and again at SXSW. We will be covering them on tour here on the blog and in person as they visit us this Spring here in the US for the very first tour with The Mumford & Sons!
