The Like Cover The Shirelles

by From Go To Whoa

We saw the Like open for Arctic Monkeys last year and weren’t overly impressed with their set but as it turns out they seem to have hit a sweet note here with a classic song cover from the Shirelles’ “Will You Still Love  Me Tomorrow”. Also, piggybacking on the cover song is an unplugged version of “He’s Not A Boy,” the new single off their forthcoming Mark Ronson-produced LP, Release Me.Check it out above.

This all female LA band formed in September 2001 by Elizabeth “Z” Berg (vocals/guitar), Charlotte Froom (bass/vocals) and Tennessee Thomas when they were only 16, 15 and 16, respectively. These band members are daughters of music industry veterans, with Berg’s father being former Geffen A&R man/record producer Tony Berg while Froom’s father being producer Mitchell Froom and Thomas’ father being Pete Thomas, longtime drummer for Elvis Costello. From childhood, bassist Froom, singer/guitarist Berg and drummer Thomas were immersed in classic rock, and all three took piano lessons before teaching themselves their current instruments. It was rumored that one of the Like members had been dating one of the Arctic Monkeys when they came to Portland together for MFNW last fall but we could not confirm nor did we see any actual evidence of them hanging out at a local strip club after their set…. hmmm?
