Rachel Yamagata Debuts New Single via Rolling Stone
We’ve been following Rachel Yamagata and caught her on a few collaborations with friends since her last album, but today, Rolling Stone revealed her new single, “Starlight” as Rachel shifts to a brighter tone of music for her upcoming new album, “Chesapeake’ due out on October 11 via Frankenfish Records. Yamagata told Rolling Stone in an interview, “I lightened up in a way that gives this record more tempo and there’s almost a positivity to some of these songs, which I’ve never been able to do,” she says. “There’s still some darker ballads, but, on the whole, it’s a lighter record.” Stream “Starlight,” below which she gives a PJ Harvey edge to it. Yamagata comments, ”Starlight,’ to me, feels like it should be in some European dance club,” “That song just evolved in the process of making the record. It came into something that is kind of sexy and cool. I’m stoked about it.”
