This year’s lineup and venue/schedule is up now from Portland Oregon’s biggest and the third largest indoor music festival in the US: MusicfestNW . MFNW is produced by Willamette Week website, Portland’s Pulitzer Prize-winning alt-weekly newspaper. WW is a regular read for FGTW staffers here, we pick it up at the coffee shop first thing each Wednesday morning when the new weekly edition hits the pavement.
Last year, in 2009 MFNW showcased more than 150 bands across 18 venues. We were covering the show for MOG Music Network and for Nike Sportswear where we were able to catch Canadian Punk rockers and 2009 Polaris Prize winners - Fucked Up, Arctic Monkeys, Portland’s own Helio Sequence, The Bronx and their alter ego Mariachi El Bronx, the return of Sunny Day Real Estate, Dr. Dog, Frank Black aka Black Francis, The Like, Aussie Rockers (and their final music festival before disbaining) The Youth Group to which we had Portland’s famous Voodoo Donuts after partying at the Black Francis session.
There are as many great local acts as well as a mix of international acts in this year’s l;ine up. Check out the dates below and get your wristbands to secure your tickets to one of the best festivals in the nation for great Indie music. This year, they have added an outdoor venue—a multi-thousand-capacity location that will increase visibility and access to Portland’s premier cultural event to which they have secured healining acts The Decembers and The National to perform.
