As Madeleine Peyroux describes in her EPK video, Standing on the Rooftop
was her personal moment when she looked back in life and her mind thought of a poem which began, “Standing on the rooftop and the sun is coming up and all the ones I care for are doing fine…” and so began a song out of this complete thought, and to follow “an album that was very positive” which she wrote mostly while in NYC working with Craig Street.  They worked together in studio to complete the gorgeous 16-track LP of mostly original songs along with three covers, one of Bob Dylan’s classic “I Threw It All Away.  Stream one of our favorite original songs, “The Things I’ve Seen” recently recorded here on visit to Portland, as well as the Dylan cover below.

The Things I’ve Seen Today (Live), April 4th, 2011 Portland, Oregon
