Blitzen Trapper Announce New Album, Tour
Eric Earley, frontman and the songwriting/storytelling genius from the Portland, Ore.’s Blitzen Trapper told Paste Magazine in an interview last month that they have finished recording the follow up to the band’s highly acclaimed 2008 Furr album. He told Paste it will be released on Sub Pop in June, most likely to the widest audience Blitzen Trapper’s had to date. We at Music from Go To Whoa have seen how wild this seemingly low keep mellow Portland band can raise an audience and we are banking on a big party this year in June!.
Eric also stated that the new tracks will be much different than those on Furr.. “A lot of the stuff I was getting into with this new record, writing and recording, was stuff that was 180 degrees from Furr or Black River Killer. But I think what ended up on the record is probably a little more compromised.” Eric revealed the first track is “seven minutes long. It’s like three or four different songs melded together into this bizarre, almost concept, thing. It’s definitely different from Furr.”
We will be watching closely as June rolls around here in BT land, hoping to give you first crack at any news or samples form the band!
